The Calaveras at Republic Square is a temporary art installation, part of a heritage grant awarded by the Economic Development Department at the City of Austin to the Downtown Austin Alliance, in partnership with Mexic-Arte Museum. The Calaveras of Republic Square features four sugar skulls arranged in a cross pattern, each representing a different aspect of Mexican American and Austin history. This art installation will be on display at Republic Square throughout the month of November.
