As part of the 2016 Mobility Bond improvements and the Guadalupe Corridor Plan, Austin Transportation crews have completed adding a red bus-only lane and associated multimodal improvements to Guadalupe and Lavaca streets.
The new contraflow bus-only lane takes advantage of existing, underutilized right-of-way to improve bus travel times and increase people-carrying capacity through the corridor. This is another step toward the effort to improve transit reliability and congestion relief on the Guadalupe Street corridor while making multimodal access improvements for pedestrians, bikes, and transit in this area.
