Celebrate the 4th of July Downtown

July 2, 2019

Families from across Central Texas will celebrate Independence Day at Vic Mathias Shores at the H-E-B Austin Symphony July 4th Concert & Fireworks! You don’t want to miss this amazing fireworks display over the downtown skyline accompanied by patriotic classics performed by the Austin Symphony. Music begins at 8:30 pm, followed by “mile-high” fireworks at approximately 9:30 pm. For those that can’t attend, but wish to hear the concert while the fireworks are going off, tune in to Majic 95.5 FM. Bring blankets, chairs, family, and friends, but please leave your pets at home. The event is free and open to the public.

Tip: Capital Metro is offering free rides after 5:00 pm on July 4! Avoid the stress of traffic and parking by using transit to get to the event. Click here to plan your trip in advance. If you do drive, drive sober or plan ahead to ensure everyone gets home safely. Learn more about your options for getting to and from the event safely.

MetroRapid operates until about 2:30 AM, so, take MetroRapid to Auditorium Shores (Route 801) and Zilker Park (the 803). Don’t forget MetroExpress Routes 980 and 985 run on Saturday due to improvements being made to Downtown MetroRail Station.

Expected traffic and road closures after the show will mean pickup locations differ from drop-offs. Be sure to see the map of pickup locations effective directly after the show.
