Lady Bird Lake North Shore Pedestrian Access

Crews are constructing northbound and southbound Riverside Drive bypass lanes at I-35 and are currently excavating and installing soil nail walls along the corridor. In early June, the project team started reconstructing and installing a new shared-use path along the southbound I-35 frontage road from Woodward Street to SH 71/Ben White Boulevard. The newly constructed shared-use path is anticipated to be complete in fall 2025.

Traffic Impacts

Below is a list of recent or upcoming long-term road closures associated with the Lady Bird Lake segment:

  • Southbound I-35 Woodland Avenue exit (232) closed. Drivers on southbound I-35 will use the Riverside Drive exit (233).
    • Through early 2026.
  • Northbound I-35 Cesar Chavez entrance ramp will be closed. Drivers on northbound I-35 frontage road will use the entrance ramp between 8th Street and 11th Street.
    • Through early 2026.
  • Access will be limited under the Lady Bird Lake bridge, along the north shore of the lake, so crews can store equipment and materials. Pedestrians and bicyclists may continue their path around the staged equipment. This closure of the under-bridge area will be effective on Friday, Aug. 1, 2025.
    • Through Sunday, Aug. 31, 2025.
