For the first time ever, The CMT Music Awards are being hosted in Austin! The CMT Music Awards, hosted by Kelsea Ballerini and Kane Brown, will air live from the Moody Center on Sunday, April 2nd, from 7pm-10pm CST on CBS and live and on-demand on Paramount+ Premium. There will be fun, free events around downtown for CMT fans leading up to the show, which also means some street closures. Here is how to make the most of CMT coming to town!
Free Events
CMT is hosting two block parties – one on April 1 and the other on April 2. No pre-registration is required!

April 1 from 12pm – 4pm at Congress Ave and 9th Street
“Open to the public and fun for the whole family, this free 2-day event, hosted by CBS Austin’s Trevor Scott, includes live music, artist meet-and-greets, free swag, games, and multiple chances to win tickets to the Moody Center for the 2023 “CMT MUSIC AWARDS” on April 2nd. Saturday, enjoy an all day DJ set from DJ Cassandra and performances from Hannah Ellis, Matt Koziol and William Clark Green. No pre-registration required.”

According to CMT’s website, “Fans who want to attend the CMT Music Awards Outdoor Stage, CMT Crossroads, CMT Music Award Ram Side Stage and/or CMT Music Awards LIVE Pre-Show & Red Carpet taping opportunities must register to receive details and tickets for each event. Street Closures
- Congress Avenue will be closed from 8th Street to 11th Street on March 27 until the morning of April 3
- 10th Street will be closed from Brazos Street to Lavaca Street from March 27 until the morning of April 3
- 9th Street will be closed from Brazos Street to Colorado Street from March 27 until the morning of April 3
- 11th Street will be closed from Brazos Street to Colorado Street from March 27 until April 3 and will be closed from San Jacinto Street to Colorado Street from 6pm on March 29 through March 30
- Colorado Street will be closed from 10th Street to 9th Street on March 27 until the morning of April 3
