On May 7, 2024, the Downtown Austin Alliance hosted a Finding Home ATX funding partners meeting that included a number of local and national private foundations and funding partners.
Finding Home ATX is a collaborative that was created in 2021 including the Downtown Austin Alliance, ECHO (Ending Community Homelessness Coalition), City of Austin, Travis County and other private and nonprofit sector organizations. FHATX purpose is to unify the community’s homelessness initiatives and funding resources, and to increase private sector leadership and investments to address homelessness.
FHATX primary goals are to unlock 3,000 new housing units in three years, to fortify social service capacity, and to rehouse encampments equitably. The chart above shows the total number of housing units projected through 2026.
Of the estimated $515M needed to achieve the goals, $222M was committed by the City of Austin from existing funding streams. In addition to that, the City and County committed $216.6M of American Recovery Plan Act (ARPA) funds ($106M and $110M respectively), and $59M was committed from private sector businesses and charitable foundations.
