Downtown has long been our city’s central hub for events, entertainment and recreation—and we want to keep it that way. We champion policies that enhance Downtown Austin by igniting, attracting and cultivating arts, culture, music and a sense of place. Not only does this make life more enjoyable, but it also brings significant economic value.

DASA
We launched and manage the Downtown Austin Space Activation Program (DASA), in collaboration with downtown property owners and community partners. This effort supports creatives and local entrepreneurs, making space accessible to rent at an affordable rate and keeping downtown active and vibrant. While we activate downtown, we’re advocating for financial incentives from the City of Austin.

A diverse, creative mix of free and low-cost events ensures downtown is a welcoming, inclusive place for all. We are advocating for the City of Austin to lower event fees and provide tax breaks for organizations holding events in downtown public spaces.
Venue Preservation
Being the Live Music Capital of the World is critical to Austin’s identity and our economy. As the eastern edge of Downtown Austin continues to develop, we must preserve downtown cultural music venues for years to come. We advocate for policies that fund, preserve and enhance cultural districts, such as the Red River Cultural District and East 6th Street, that keep this tradition alive.
