Advocacy
Built Environment
Bringing partners together to address pressing challenges.
We continually evaluate how future developments, projects and growth will affect downtown’s built environment over the coming decades. Downtown should be the densest, most walkable, and most vibrant center of the region, and our city plans and land use policies should support these goals. We bring stakeholders, policymakers and property owners together to collaborate on solutions to our most pressing challenges.

Downtown Austin Plan
We advocate to advance the new Downtown Austin Plan to reflect the changing landscape of downtown and create a sustainable implementation team with a culture of public-private partnerships. We also advocate to re-envision a development incentive program to complement the goals of the new Downtown Austin Plan.
Downtown Districts
We advocate to ensure that policies for the South Central Waterfront fully leverage the unique opportunity of this district to become a vibrant, transit-oriented destination with world-class waterfront access and park space. We also advocate to implement land use policies that support and advance the Innovation/Medical District.
Central Business District
We advocate for increasing the base floor-to-area ratio in the Central Business District (CBD) and rezoning all downtown properties as CBD.
Affordable Housing Downtown
We advocate and encourage affordable housing near or adjacent to downtown Austin.
Tree Canopy
We advocate to adopt policies that help support and enhance the health and sustainability of the downtown tree canopy.
Capitol View Corridors
We advocate for plans for removing the Capitol View Corridors originating from I-35 and policies for the continued presence and operations of live music venues in the area.
