We are honored to share that the Downtown Austin Alliance has been awarded a special recognition for education for Our Austin Story as a part of the 2019 Preservation Merit Awards. Our Austin Story is a comprehensive interpretive strategy to uncover and collect the stories of downtown’s most historic places–Congress Avenue and the four original squares– through the people and events that shaped them. We are currently working to make these stories more visible downtown through interpretive signage at Republic and Wooldridge Squares and future events and programs that celebrate and honor Austin’s diverse heritage.
