We kick off the holiday season every year by hosting the Downtown Holiday Stroll where thousands of Austinites gather to celebrate the holidays downtown. The stroll is accompanied by live music, carol singing, and much more—including the downtown tree lighting.

2021 Downtown Holiday Stroll

On December 4, The Downtown Austin Alliance; KUT 90.5, Austin’s NPR station; and KUTX 98.9, The Austin Music Experience, invite the community to start the holidays downtown with the annual Holiday Sing-Along and downtown tree lighting. Immediately following the tree lighting, Austin quintet Los Coast will close out the night with a special performance. The event is free and open to the public. Check back here for more information as it becomes available.

2020 Downtown Holiday Stroll

Instead of just one night, Holiday Stroll was a month-long, COVID-conscious celebration with free activities and holiday happenings, reimagined to make it fun and easy for the whole family to explore downtown while staying safe.

2019 Downtown Holiday Stroll

Thousands gathered for the 25th anniversary of the Downtown Holiday Stroll. Highlights included the countdown to the downtown tree lighting, photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus, a local artisan holiday market and live music by a uniquely Austin lineup with performances by Max Frost, Mobley, Alesia Lani and Love & Chaos. Kids of all ages lined up for the giant snow dome, mini petting zoo and ornament making.
