A ceremonial cortege for Lady Bird Johnson is scheduled for 9:00 a.m.
Sunday, July 15, 2007.

The procession will begin at the State Capitol heading south on Congress Avenue to West Cesar Chavez Street and will proceed out of town to Johnson City. At this time, we do not have more specific details regarding the closure, but please be aware that normal traffic patterns will be temporarily disrupted. All members of the community are invited to line the route in honor of our beloved Mrs. Johnson. Click on the attached link for an image of the route and more details.

The Peace Officers' Memorial Foundation is hosting its 3rd Annual Cops & Joggers 5k on Saturday, July 21, 2007 at Waterloo Park. Run starts at 7:00 a.m.

The following streets will be closed from 5:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m.: Trinity from E. 12th St. to E. 15th St.and E. 13th from San Jacinto to Trinity. Two traffic lanes will be closed between the hours of 6:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. on the following streets as the race passes:
San Jacinto - 2nd St.to MLK
2nd St. - Lavaca to Brazos
Lavaca - 2nd to MLK
MLK - Lavaca to San Jacinto

Current Construction Projects

Cesar Chavez Construction
Final work on the Austin Clean Water Project (ACWP) began on Cesar Chavez on June 25. Last year, the ACWP replaced a failing wastewater line under Cesar Chavez. Crews are now connecting buildings to the new pipe.

The work will last approximately 30 days and will be done in three phases:
- Currently, two eastbound lanes of Chavez are closed. This configuration will last for approximately 11 days.
- A second phase will close two eastbound lanes on Chavez between Congress Avenue and Colorado.
- The final phase will close one northbound lane on Congress.

Join the Austin bat community and the Austin running community for a Friday night run on the Town Lake Trail. The Bat Run 5K will benefit Bat Conservation International. The course starts and finishes under the Congress Avenue Bridge on the Town Lake Hike and Bike Trail. It runs out to the east on the trail and loops back for the finish. Entry into the run includes a t-shirt and an opportunity to watch the bats with the running community.
