During February, the Austin Children's Museum and Latinitas will team up to promote and showcase local youth artists. See a vibrant, expressive and fascinating portrait of the Latina community in Austin as depicted by youth photographers from the Latinitas after-school programs, a local media education program focused on empowering Hispanic girls. Through the camera lens, the young photojournalists captured their culture, heritage and neighborhoods while revealing their unique perspectives and dreams.

This free family event has fun, hands-on activities practically every hour! 11:00 - Tales Teeth Tell, a hands-on exploration of teeth in the fossil record; 1:00 - Dinosaur Stomp, storytelling for the whole family; 2:00 - Ice Age Mammals of Central Texas, a hands-on introduction to the mammals of the Pleistocene in Texas including saber-tooth cats, mammoths and giant ground sloths; 3:00 - Dinosaur Stomp, storytelling for the whole family. Ongoing activities allow you and the kids to make crafts and see and touch real museum fossils; dig in the mini Dino Pit, and learn what it's like to be a paleontologist searching for fossils. Love is in the air and no one is immune to it. La Peña invites you to "Take My Heart." La Peña's beloved Valentine's Day event - Toma Mi Corazón XV will once again be held at La Peña Gallery and Las Manitas Avenue Cafe. Every year wooden hearts are given out to artists, school children, dignitaries, and anyone else who would like to participate. They are free to decorate them however they wish. These heart sculptures are the sold during a silent auction. The proceeds from the event go to support La Peña's visual arts and education programming. The festivities begin at 4:00 p.m. with a preview party followed by the silent auction at 6:00 p.m. Among this year's participating artists are Amado Peña Jr., Brian Joseph, and Ana Sisnet along with autographed hearts by Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino.
