Oct 5-Oct 8 Requiem - Blue Lapis Light

Join Blue Lapis Light/Sally Jacques for Requiem, a reprisal of June's extraordinarily popular site-specific dance work at the former Intel Building.

Requiem will again be led by Artistic Director and chief choreographer Sally Jacques in collaboration with an ensemble of dancers, climbing experts, technical designers and rigging experts. Performances will be held Thursdays-Sundays during October and the first weekend in November.

The mesmerizing performance takes place on the concrete columns and over the edges of the floors of the five-story structure. The dancers and climbers will ascend and descend through the use of ropes, cloth, bungee cords and other techniques to reach heights of up to 80 feet.

The Art of Living (UT Chapter) presents An Indian Classical Music concert featuring Vishaal Sapuram on the Chitravina (a 20-stringed fretless slide instrument) performing Carnatic, South Indian classical music. Seven guest conductors will take the podium during this special concert, as ASB Music Director, Richard Floyd is recovering from a torn tendon. Floyd said, "They are among the leaders in the music education community of Austin and the state of Texas. Many are nationally recognized for their educational and musical achievements." The concert will feature "a variety of music from elegant toccatas to rhythmic tangos, and popular musicals to snappy marches."

San Antonio artist, Joey Fauerso, explores the world of animation in this new exhibition titled Wide Open Wide. Her captivating frame-by-frame paintings come alive as they move across the screen and interact with each other. The Women Printmakers of Austin will exhibit members' work at their eleventh annual show, which includes the most recent trade portfolio, "Dualities in the Natural World." Printmakers were challenged to interpret the ideas such as opposites, light/dark, heaven/earth, natural/manmade. Join the Blanton Museum for their monthly art party! This month experience the magic of Renaissance Italy and celebrate the opening of the exhibition Luca Cambiaso, 1527-1585. DJ Little Danny kicks off the evening from 6:00 - 9:30 p.m., then spins again from 10:30 - 11:00 p.m. Enjoy light refreshments, a cash bar, art activities and tours that take place every half hour until 9:00 p.m., and a live performance by opera singers from the Sara and Ernest Butler Opera Center (beginning at 8:00). Take a guided tour of Norman Mailer Takes On America with curators Molly Schwartzburg and Rich Oram. The exhibition showcases Mailer's career examined in the context of the cultural and historical events that sparked his imagination. Admission is free.

Lecture: Lee Miller's War - 7:00 p.m.
Author Anthony Penrose, son of the American photographer Lee Miller, discusses her war photojournalism, from shortly after D-Day to the post war traumas of Austria and Hungary, in "Lee Miller's War." This dramatic story will be told through extensive use of Lee Miller's own words set to her photographs.

It's a huge scavenger hunt, so get your brain revved for solving tricky clues. Austin Found is Austin's annual city-wide treasure hunt. Teams solve clues at checkpoints throughout the city and then return to the starting point in order to claim a prize. Everyone can participate! Teams consist of two to four members. Austin Found is a non-profit organization and proceeds from the event support early education and literary initiatives.
