Featured Event

Jul 21-23 Dialogues
McCullough Theatre, 23rd & Robert Dedman
(512) 471-1444, americanrepensemble.org

Austin's premiere chamber musicians, American Repertory Ensemble, presents an innovative performance of music and dance. The extraordinary production features 15 outstanding artists performing classic and new works by choreographers George Balanchine, David Justin, Harrison McEldowney and composers Tchaikovsky, Shostakovich, Rob Deemer, Joe Cocker and more.

So who and what is this talented troupe? Robert Faires of The Austin Chronicle describes it best, "Classical musicians may often play for dancers, and dancers perform with classical musicians, but when it comes to organizations, they typically go their separate ways. Symphony and chamber groups here, ballet and dance troupes there, and never the twain shall meet. Well, not so with the newly formed American Repertory Ensemble. Figuring dance and music to be two great tastes that taste great together, the folks behind ARE are out to bring those art forms together in an organizational peanut-butter cup."

Tickets are $15 and may be purchased online at americanrepensemble.org.

Dialogues has been moved to the McCullough after flooding closed the State Theatre. Other performances, including American Fiesta (running July 27-August 13) have also been delayed and moved due to the damage our beloved theater on Congress sustained after a water main break deluged the performance hall in mid-June. Donations are being accepted to help repair and rebuild the State. For more information on how you can help, please go to austintheatre.org.
