Choreographed by Stephen Mills with live accompaniment by the Austin Symphony Orchestra, this work premiered in Austin in October of 2001, and became an instant hit.

Cora's Sons is an exciting and stimulating drama that positively accents the lives of four African-American men. Love conquers all and time heals all wounds; but what happens when love is not enough and time runs out? In Suzan-Lori Parks' writing, the dead and the past are ever-present, bodies are unearthed, family secrets revealed, and historical deceits examined. Parks brings her special style of writing to KLRU's speaker series. In her talks, with her unique sense of humor, Parks discusses the process of becoming a writer, following one's creative voice, and issues of the day, many times offering a performance with guitar and voice. The Austin Singers will perform a spring concert featuring Johannes Brahms' A German Requiem and Liebeslieder Waltzes. The Austin Symphonic Band, the "Official Band of the City of Austin," will present its traditional Mother's Day Concert in Zilker Park. Antes Siempre displays the fascinating works of Ana Fuentes and Cecilia Colome. Ana Fuentes' works are in private collections and museums in Mexico, Belgium, Spain and the United States. In 1988, Cecilia moved to Austin to attend the University of Texas, where she got her Ph.D. in astronomy in 1995. As the electronic image becomes the ubiquitous means of communication today, a number of artists draw inspiration instead from the tenets of the Arts and Crafts movement of a hundred years ago. These artists use hobby and craft skills, including meticulous hand-beading, sewing, quilting, silhouette cutting, collaging and collecting. Their two- and three-dimensional contemporary works negotiate a path between organic and geometric form, between the pixilated and the painterly. On opening day - May 13 - join Over + Over artists Tom Fruin, Victoria Haven, Lisa Hoke, Elizabeth Simonson, and Rachel Perry Welty for a walk through of the exhibition.

Again + Again: Cycles in Video and Light presents eight video and light projects that engage repetition in diverse, sometimes obsessive, and always reflective ways. The works, drawn from the Museum's and six private Austin collections, push our perception of the limits of stillness and movement. A variety of technologies are represented, while the techniques featured include still image morphing and moving image montages, computer-generated imagery, mechanical manipulation of hardware screen, and documentary filmmaking. This is visual candy you'll recall again + again.
