The Austin Farmers' Market will be opening a seasonal Thursday mid-week market (previously held on Wednesdays) this Thursday. The opening ceremonies and party-like atmosphere will recognize this market as a "little sister" of the main Saturday market downtown. There will be music, a market manager iron chef's challenge, Happy Kitchen cooking demos, a gardening workshop and more. The market is open weekly through September 28th from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Shoppers can expect about 10 farmers, including meats and eggs, and about 10 other vendors, including tamales, Mediterranean foods, pestos, bread, granola, root beer and iced coffees. Farmers will have tomatoes, blackberries, new potatoes, young squash, green beans and strawberries. Free parking around the neighborhood and near the plaza. Free admission.

The 1000 block of Congress will close at 2:00 a.m. and reopen by 2:00 p.m. The run starts at 8:00 a.m. Runners will use the following streets:
- South on Congress Ave. to Oltorf St.
- West on Oltorf, to S. 1st St.
- North on S. 1st to Lavaca St.
- North on Lavaca to W. 15th St.
- East on W. 15th to San Jacinto Blvd.
- South on San Jacinto to 11th St.
- West on 11th to the finish line in the 1000 block ofCongress Ave.

Cross streets will be blocked until runners have passed. Except for the 1000 block of Congress, all streets should be completely open by 10 a.m.

Participants will gather on the Capitol grounds at 3:00 p.m. and begin marching at 4:00 p.m. They will take the following route:
- South on Congress Ave. to Cesar Chavez
- East on Cesar Chavez to Chicon
- North on Chicon to E. 3rd St.
- East on 3rd to end at the AB Cantu - Pan Am Recreation Center amphitheater

The Austin Police Department will close intersections along the route as the parade approaches and reopen them as the end of the parade passes.
