Aside from his brilliant skills as a soloist, Grisman's impact on Bluegrass cannot be understated. Drawing on early jazz, Grisman extended the melodic range of his bright mandolin improvisations, while adding a developed, syncopated rhythmic impetus. Grisman's "Dawg music" is known for its tasteful incorporation of folk, country and swing. Listen up at davidgrisman.com. Those of you who are equal enthusiasts of British folk and American bluegrass will find a home in the music of the Greencards, who seem to pull influences from both acoustic realms, as you'll hear at thegreencards.com. The Foundation will offer approximately nine garden plots along the Town Lake Trail for adoption by individuals, groups, school classes and businesses. Anyone interested can bid on a garden. Bidding starts at $100. Sponsors are available for youth groups that can't afford the fee. Proceeds from the auction fund improvements to the trail. John Dromgoole, Central Texas' best known native plant gardening expert and owner of the Natural Gardener, will be the guest speaker at the event. Refreshments and door prizes will be offered. The event is free.

This seminar series will examine successful projects, as well as regional planning efforts, aimed at coping with the sometimes conflicting goals of traditional allies, including new urbanists, environmentalists, and regulatory officials. Street Closings

Feb 4 Boy Scout Parade
Congress Avenue

The Annual Boy Scout Parade will begin at 9:30 a.m. on the Congress Avenue Bridge and proceed north up Congress to the Capitol grounds.

The bridge will be closed from 7:30 a.m until noon. Congress Avenue and the 100 East and 100 West blocks of all cross streets from Cesar Chavez to 11th Street will be closed before the beginning of the parade and re-open by noon.
