In the grand, and now year-round tradition of the Austin Farmers' Market, downtown has another open air event for art lovers. The West 6th Street Artists' Market is a festive outdoor art fair, featuring a variety of work by independent artists from Austin and Central Texas. Open every Sat. & Sun. 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. They are dedicated to offering a market of diversity encompassing the many mediums of art and design practiced in Austin, while preserving the individual artistic integrity of these mediums. In doing this, they will bring a pleasant outdoor shopping experience filled with the vibrance, the rich flavor and personality that makes Austin famous.
In addition to offering works for sale, many of the artists bring their studios with them to the Market. There is a silversmith that cuts, polishes and solders right there on the spot. You will often see several painters easels set up with paintings in progress. Come out and experience the magic of seeing art being created right before your eyes.
Do you need a gift for someone special? You can be assured that giving something that is one-of-a-kind and made by hand locally will be cherished by the recipient.
