Dec 31 Your New Year's Eve Plans - First Night Austin
2:00 p.m. - 12:00 a.m. (Saturday, January 1, 2006)
Congress Avenue to Auditorium Shores
firstnightaustin.org

On Saturday, December 31, 2005, a new tradition will be launched in downtown Austin, Texas - an annual New Year's Eve Celebration of the Arts called First Night Austin. This event is unique in that it programs and commissions artists to create works "in" and "on" the fabric of the city, i.e. outdoor plazas, sidewalks, hotel ballrooms, museums, building facades, lobbies, storefront windows and more.

First Night Austin also provides a festive and exciting new way to greet the New Year without the provision or promotion of alcohol.

Outdoor events - and there will be plenty of them - are free and designed to be open and accessible to everyone in our community.

A First Night Austin 2006 Button, purchased for $8 before the event at Austin H-E-B stores or $10 at the event, will serve as a contribution to First Night and as an access pass for indoor venues.

What a terrific way to bring in the New Year. Please plan to join us downtown on New Year's Eve!

Look for more details next week or go to right now to firstnightaustin.org to learn more about this fabulous community-wide event.
