Join the Downtown Austin Alliance and John Aielli, host of KUT 90.5's popular Eklektikos radio program for an evening of holiday music and a great family tradition.

The annual Capitol Tree Lighting and Holiday Sing-Along will begin at 6:00 p.m. on the south steps of the State Capitol. This wonderful family event is free and open to the public.

Make an evening of it!

In conjunction with the Sing-Along, all are invited to take a Holiday Stroll down beautiful Congress Avenue, the Main Street of Texas from 5:00 - 9:00 p.m. Many of the merchants and museums will remain open to welcome visiting guests.

Capital Metro's free Starlight 'Dillo service will be running on Congress Avenue to make your strolling easier. The trolley will be available from 5:00 p.m. - 3:00 a.m.

Donations for the Capital Area Food Bank will be accepted at the Capitol Tree throughout the event.

In conjunction with The Association of Moving Image Archivists conference, the Ransom Center and Milestone Films present Beyond The Rocks (1922), starring Gloria Swanson and Rudolf Valentino. Lost for decades, a print of this important film was recently discovered and restoration has now been completed. Martin Scorsese calls it "a cause for celebration... testament to the extraordinary artistry of silent cinema." Tickets for the 8:00 p.m. show are available at the Paramount Theatre box office on the day of the show.

The Zilker Tree Stands 155 feet tall and is composed of 39 streamers, each holding 81 multicolored, 25 watt bulbs, totalling 3,309 lights. At the top of the tree, a double star measures 10 feet from point to point. This unique spiral pattern of lights was created by City of Austin electricians, and each year the Parks and Recreation Deparment and Austin Entery hold a ceremony to officially light the tree. This year the ceremony will be at 6:00 p.m. You and your family are invited to attend and participate in this uniquely Austin celebration.

Upcoming Wooldridge Square Makeover

You'll be watching the transformation of Wooldridge Square Park in the coming weeks. Located in between the County Courthouseand the Austin History Center, the Square is getting a partial makeover with new
sidewalks on three sides of the park and the planting of 9 trees to replace

interested in helping to rebuild the irrigation system at this historic
