Aug 4 Milago Moonlight Margarita Run

Get ready to run for margaritas and a Mexican feast tomorrow night. The Town Lake Trail Foundation is hosting a 5K Fun Run through the streets surrounding the Town Lake Trail, starting and finishing near the trail at the American Legion Hall just south of RunTex on Lake Austin. The run starts at 8:00 p.m.

After you finish, you will find dozens of margarita machines and a full Mexican food buffet for your refreshment and partying pleasure.

To register and pick up a race packet or party ticket, visit (with cash or check only) RunTex (Riverside location) on Wednesday, August 3 until 7:00 p.m., or Thursday, August 4 between 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. You can also register later tomorrow from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the event site.

The cost is $30 for the run, $50 for the party or $75 for both and your money goes for a great cause!

The Foundation extends its thanks to Milago Condominiums (milagocondos.com) on Town Lake for underwriting this event and helping make improvements to the trail and park near Rainey Street.

George Krause and Sean Perry's serene black and white photographs are featured in this new exhibit. Krause's larger-than-life nudes are juxtaposed with Perry's objective work, infusing the show with a sense of contemplative silence. The Austin Museum of Art (AMOA) will keep its doors open until 8:00 p.m. for the final four nights of the very popular current exhibitions, Annie Leibovitz: American Music and Charles Mary Kubricht: Scanning the Grand Canyon. The extended hours, Leibovitz: Late 'til 8, are in response to the public's eagerness to see these record-breaking exhibitions. Don't miss the First Saturday Tour on Saturday, August 6th. This will be one of your last opportunities to view the works of Annie Leibovitz and Charles Mary Kubricht. Bring the whole family - they'll love it.

La Peña is hosting an opening night celebration for its August art exhibits from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. this Friday. At La Peña Gallery, you'll experience Essence, an exhibit of paintings by Monterrey, Mexico artist Barbara Fernandez. This show runs through September 2. At Las Manitas Avenue Café, Ruben Medellin's Mujeres Cortadas en Vidrio (Women Cut into Glass) features paintings that appear to be images of women in stained glass that runs through August 31. The evening will feature the Latin and world music of Estrellas Brillantes.

The American photographer Ansel Adams (1902-1984) was a master of creating visually unforgettable images of unspoiled nature in spectacluar places. He was also lauded for his mastery of the technical challenges of black-and-white printing. Adams, who in his youth studied to be a concert pianist, believed that printing a negative was like the dynamic of an orchestra playing a symphony--the score remains the same but the interpretation of it changes with each performance.

Street Closings

Aug 4 Milago Moonlight Margarita Run

The run will begin at 8:00 p.m. on Veterans Drive, just west of
MoPac. Runners will go east on Stephen F. Austin Dr., turn onto
Cesar Chavez, and continue east to San Antonio. At San
Antonio, they will turn around and follow the same route back,
finishing on Veterans Drive.

Crews will begin closing Cesar Chavez to traffic at 6:30 p.m. By
7:15 p.m., all lanes of Cesar Chavez, between San Antonio and Stephen F.
Austin Dr. will be closed. Lanes will be re-opened at the end of the
race.
