Live jazz has returned home to East Austin in a big way!

The East End Summer Music Series brings regularly scheduled live jazz and blues back to East 11th Street and establishes Kenny Dorham's Backyard as the key East Side summer destination for African American culture-based music programming.

Get jazzed this week with blues legend, Miss Lavelle White.

Located is 3 blocks east of I-35, in the center of the historic East 11th Street entertainment district and the current revitalization zone. It's within walking distance of Central East Austin neighborhoods, Huston-Tilotson University, and next door to the legendary Victory Grill.

Kenny Dorham's Backyard will provide a much needed venue for music and cultural events long absent in Central East Austin. The cover is just $5. Gates open at 6:30 p.m. with recorded music, food and drink, and the concert will be held 7:30 - 9:30 p.m.

Art Car Parade Down Congress Avenue

The night begins with the Art Car Parade at 6:00 p.m., followed with a night of art and music along Congress Avenue. Additional events include art exhibits by East Austin Studio Tour artists in the Scarbrough Building and Studio 107 and music, exhibits and celebration at La Pena Gallery, 227 Congress. The conference runs through June 13.
