The free Plaza Concert Series at Austin City Hall, presented by the Cultural Arts Division of the City of Austin, will continue with weekly lunchtime concerts, each Friday in June as a tribute to African American heritage. This week's Catfish and Tunes concert features Les and Funk Mob, called "Austin's funkiest show band." The free concerts are being held on the plaza at Austin City Hall from Noon to 1:30 p.m.

The News 8k is designed to challenge 5K runners to move to the next level and give 10K runners a chance to warm up for upcoming races. This year's race will benefit the Capital Area Food Bank. On Friday, June 3rd, the Republic of Texas Bike Rally will roll into Downtown. A parade of nearly 50,000 motorcycles will enter Downtown and park on Congress.

Between 6:00 p.m. and 4:00 a.m. Congress Avenue will be completely closed from 2nd St. to 11th St., as will all side streets one block east and west of Congress from 3rd St. to 11th St.

On Saturday, June 4, W. 4th St., between Guadalupe and San Antonio will be closed from 8:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.

Also on Saturday, News 8 Austin and Time Warner Cable will sponsor the News 8 8K, benefiting the Capital Area Food Bank.

The course starts at W. 8th and Lavaca in Downtown Austin. Runners will head east on W. 8th before turning right onto Congress and running south to Oltorf. They will go west on Oltorf to S. 1st St., and north on S. 1st St. to the starting line. The 100 and 200 blocks of W. 8th St. will be closed for the duration. Other streets on the course will be re-opened as the final runners pass by.
