Artist Community Needs Community's Help
Austin Visual Arts Association, 37th & Home Lane
(512) 457-0075, avaaonline.org
Guadalupe Arts Center artists were devastated by the fire that consumed the building in January. There are several ways the community can help. The Austin Visual Arts Association is coordinating several efforts: Donations of art supplies can be dropped off at the AVAA building and monetary donations are made out to AVAA and can be sent to P.O. Box 13313, Austin, TX 78711-3313.
An Artists' Spring Cleaning Party fundraising event is being held 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at AVAA headquarters on March 19. Good way to express your support.
Finally, the artists are looking for affordable space to rent - possibly warehouse - to resume their work. If you have or know of any availabilities, please contact Harold McMillian of DiverseArts at hmcmillan@diversearts.org or give him a call at (512) 477-9438.
