Sing Along, Stroll Along and Light Up Your Holidays!

Get in the spirit of the season Austin style. Please join the Alliance and John Aielli, Austin's favorite radio (KUT) host, for an evening of holiday strolling, singing and tree lighting. This year's John Aielli's Holiday Sing-Along and Capital Tree Lighting Ceremony happens Saturday, December 4 from 6:00-7:00 p.m. on the south steps of the State Capitol. Come early and stay late to be a part of the Congress Avenue Holiday Stroll from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Merchants and museums will be open to welcome revelers.

In the spirit of giving, several Congress Avenue property owners will be accepting small donations ($2) to the Capital Area Food Bank in exchange for convenient parking.

  • 301 Congress Avenue - enter at Brazos after 3rd
  • 100 Congress Avenue Visitor Lot - enter off Cesar Chavez
  • Littlefield Mall Parking Garage - enter at Brazos & 5th

Bring additional food items to put under the tree. All gifts will go to feed those less fortunate this holiday season.

Scrooge Like You've Never Seen Him Before

Esther Makes Folly of Everything Jolly

Rockin' and Rollin' Down Santa Claus Lane

Chinese Golden Dragon Acrobats

In between gasps, you'll be hearing lots of "oohing" and "aahing." The Chinese Golden Dragon Acrobats turn the Paramount stage into something of a circus as they tumble, juggle and literally fly through the air. Great fun for all ages. Two performances, 3:00 and 7:30 p.m.


The Nutcracker

A Baroque Christmas Beyond Bach

  • Cesar Chavez (westbound) between Sandra Muraida and Stephen F. Austin Dr. (AKA the Austin High turn-around)
  • Cesar Chavez (eastbound) between Stephen F. Austin Dr. and S. First
  • The S. First St. bridge (southbound)
A street closure permit has been issued from 7:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m., although organizers expect the race to finish by 9:30 a.m.
