The City of Austin and Downtown Austin Alliance are spreading the word about how to safely use dockless mobility services (e-scooters and bicycles). A team of ambassadors and police officers distributed informational materials to and communicated with the public about how to scoot safely and respectfully. They covered the downtown area with a focus along Congress Avenue and Second Street. This street team initiative is part of a larger effort to remind the public about the importance of safety as Austin’s mobility landscape embraces new options for getting around.

Before you hop on an e-scooter, be sure to know the rules of the road.

  • One person per scooter.
  • Yield to people walking, bicycling and people with disabilities.
  • Wear a helmet for safety.
  • Don’t ride on parkland.
  • Don’t ride while under the influence of intoxicants.
  • Park scooters with care.
