We are honored to be recognized among the country’s Best Workplaces for Commuters in 2018 for our commuter benefits package.
“We take immense pride in receiving our 2018 Best Workplaces for Commuters national designation,” Molly Alexander, executive vice president of economic development for the Downtown Alliance, said. “Our commuter benefits program is a hit with our employees. It’s led to an increase in productivity, helped with retention and put us on the map for attracting top talent.”
The Best Workplaces for Commuters program is a project of The Center for Urban Transportation Research (CUTR) at the University of South Florida and annually chooses standouts in the nation for its designation.
“The Downtown Alliance is on the cutting edge of a national movement,” Julie Bond, program manager, Best Workplaces for Commuters, said. “They have listened to their employees’ challenges with traffic congestion and their concerns over reducing emissions. By offering a range of commuter benefits—such as subsiding bus fares, carpooling programs and access to Emergency Ride Home programs—the Downtown Alliance gives its employees the support they need to get to and from work so they can be at their best. These benefits are good for the company and its employees.”
Austin’s mobility challenges include parking costs and commuting time. Those dynamics led the Downtown Alliance to team with Movability Austin
, an organization that helps companies connect employees with mobility options. The collaboration resulted in a plan that works best for their employees’ work demands and personal lives. Downtown Alliance employees use options from flex hours to mass transit and bicycling to get to work without wasting time in traffic.
