Two wheels, infinite options.

Pedal past traffic and enjoy some outdoor exercise.

The advantages of biking

The City of Austin's Bicycle Route Map shows routes throughout the city and can help you choose the safest and most convenient route to get to downtown without any congestion. Pick up a physical copy at any local bike shop. Whether you ride your bike from home or bring it on the bus or train, bicycling is a great way to zip around downtown without having to worry about parking. Remember that cyclists must obey all traffic laws applicable to vehicle operators.

Major Bike Routes

 Three downtown paths worth noting:

Bicycle Parking

The City of Austin has installed hundreds of bicycle racks for public use around downtown.

Bikes on Buses and Trains

All Capital Metro buses have bike racks, and all MetroRail trains have bike hooks. If the racks or hooks are full, cyclists may stand in the aisle with their bikes, as long as there is room for other passengers. Free bike parking is available at most Capital Metro bus stops, at MetroRail stations and all Park & Rides.

Bike Rentals

Austin has numerous places to rent road, mountain, or city bikes. For rentals downtown:
