IT'S TIME TEXAS Texas Walks
IT’S TIME TEXAS, (ITT) an Austin-based nonprofit organization that empowers people to lead healthier lives and build healthier communities, will host its second annual Texas Walks event on October 20th at 10 a.m. Texas Walks is a health awareness and fundraising campaign that culminates with a 10-minute walk taking place at the same time and on the same day in cities and communities throughout Texas. Anyone, anywhere, from schools and offices to homes and places of worship, is encouraged to take 10 minutes out his or her day to walk for good health and a good cause. Studies show that just 10 minutes of walking can drop blood pressure, reduce blood sugar, lower cholesterol, improve bone health, burn calories and improve gait and balance in addition to improving your mental health by clearing your mind and reducing stress.
