Arts & Entertainment Marketing Committee

The Arts & Entertainment Marketing Committee promotes Downtown as the destination for arts, culture and entertainment through collateral materials, public communications and event sponsorships. This committee also works to present the Tree Lighting Ceremony at the Capitol/Congress Avenue Holiday Stroll and the Downtown a' la Carte Building Fairs. Monthly Meeting: 3rd Wednesday at 8:30 a.m.

Economic Development Committee

Chair: Alex Tynberg, Andrews Urban

This committee facilitates and promotes business development by encouraging the positive growth of retail, residential, and commercial uses in Downtown Austin. The committee's top priority for 2008 is monitoring and participating in the City of Austin on the Downtown Plan. Monthly Meeting: 1st Wednesday at Noon.

Parks Committee

This committee is composed of stakeholders who work to revitalize the historic Downtown parks — Republic Square, Brush Square, and Wooldridge Square. The groups meet regularly with the Austin Parks & Recreation Department, the Austin Parks Foundation, and other interested stakeholders. Monthly Meetings: Full Parks Committee - 4th Wednesday at 10:00 a.m.; Republic Square Partners - 2nd Wednesday at 10:30 a.m.; Friends of Brush Square - 2nd Thursday at 8:30 a.m.

Security & Maintenance Committee

Chair: Doug Gehret, Hilton Austin
Staff Liaison: Bill Brice

The Downtown Austin Alliance's Security and Maintenance Committee brings together property owners and managers, social service agencies and business officials to address issues that impact the safety and cleanliness within and around the downtown Public Improvement District. The committee is an official liaison to the Austin Police Department (APD) and makes recommendations to the DAA Board on matters important to reducing crime, increasing public safety and improving downtown cleanliness. These include the Austin Downtown Rangers program; litter and graffiti removal, sidewalk cleaning programs; liquor license protests, the Mayor's Public Order Initiatives and nighttime safety. Official agencies represented include: APD, Austin Parks Police, Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission, Travis District Attorney's Office, Travis County Sheriff's Department, the City of Austin Economic Growth and Redevelopment Services Department and the Downtown Austin Community Court. Monthly Meeting: Last Wednesday at 8:30 a.m.

Streetscapes & Transportation Committee

Co-Chairs: Wade Cooper, Jackson Walker LLP, and Paul Noetzel, CB Richard Ellis

The Downtown Austin Alliance's Streetscapes and Transportation Committee is committed to enhancing the pedestrian experience through the implementation of the Great Streets Master Plan and to improving access and mobility in Downtown Austin. Issues include parking, transit, sidewalks, and congestion management. Monthly Meeting: 4th Thursday at Noon.
